Why am I Deliverin' Social Media Tools?

1) It's a good way to establish an online community. I am hoping that this blog will create, and speak to a community of future educators who are lost when it comes to technology, and social media.

2) It will allow teachers to understand where our students are coming from, and what is significant in their lives.

3) It allows students and teachers to create digital media texts.

4) The web has room for everyone to be a publisher and share their thoughts.

5) By exposing students to technology, it will help them recognize forces that shape the media.

6) It allows student's to bring their home culture to school.

7) Technology and media allow students to critically analyze media texts that will help build on their multimediating experiences.

8) It teaches students that social media can be professional. It doesn't have to be about how much booze was drank over the weekend, and who slept with who.

9) Instruction that controls media will help students learn to use media in a responsible, and mature manner.

10) Students can look at different texts online as well as in print, and make connections between these different texts to construct knowledge.

11) Students will aquire many different literacies. (As well as teachers, if you are a bafoon like me).

It's A Whole New Way Of Life

About Deliverin' Data

My Name is Brenda G. I am a 22 year old English Education major.

If there is anything I have learned in the last few months of my schooling, it is that...

America runs on technology more than coffee, nicotine, and bad habits.

Everything in today's society is online.

As a future teacher, my goal is to keep up with the latest technology that rules the lives of the youth. These youths will soon be sitting in my classroom, and I want to have ways to be able to relate to them, and the world they live in.

This blog will cover topics that rule social media. Such things will include:
  • Video Games
  • My Space
  • Face Book
  • Twitter
  • Wikis
  • Blogs
  • Vlogs
  • Texting
  • Search Engines
  • Feeds
  • Google Reader
  • And More, because the web is endless.
My mission is to not only learn about these things that are in existence on the web, but to also educate current, and future educators about what their students are doing outside of class.

Perhaps this blog will allow teachers to learn to incorporate social medias into their classrooms and curriculum. Social media has the power to better meet the needs of students, and keep them interested.

Being totally illiterate in technology myself, and running on dial up until about 6 months ago, this is not only a challenge but a learning experience for me. Hopefully, I can help other educators who are as clueless as me.
